Who this notice covers
This notice applies to the Itihas Chakra journal at www.itihaschakra.com. For privacy questions or requests concerning your information, use the public email listed on our Contact page.
Browsing the journal
You can read public articles without an account. Our hosting provider, Hostinger, processes the technical information needed to deliver and protect the website, which may include IP addresses, requested URLs, browser information and server logs.
The site also loads typography from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google to retrieve font files, which exposes technical request information such as your IP address and browser headers. This font delivery is separate from the optional analytics choice. See Google Fonts privacy information.
Optional Google Analytics
If you accept analytics, Google Analytics receives usage information such as pages viewed, referral information, browser and device details, approximate location and interactions with the site. Cookie identifiers help distinguish visits and sessions.
We use this information to understand readership and improve the journal. Our website tag disables Google signals and advertising personalisation features. It loads on public pages only after acceptance, and does not load on the editorial studio, member notebook, registration or login pages.
You can decline and continue reading. Use Cookie preferences in the footer to change your choice. Withdrawing consent stops future collection through this website’s tag and clears its Google Analytics cookies in your browser; it does not automatically erase data already collected by Google. See Google’s privacy policy.
Cookies and browser storage
| Storage | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| ic-analytics-consent-v1 | Local storage remembers whether you accept or decline analytics. | Until you change the choice or clear site storage. |
| _ga and _ga_… | Optional Google Analytics visitor and session measurement. | Google’s default is two years, subject to browser restrictions and configured settings. |
| ic_session | Essential sign-in cookie for editorial team accounts. | Up to eight hours, or removed on sign-out. |
| ic_reader_session | Essential sign-in cookie for public member accounts, separate from editorial access. | Up to eight hours, or removed on sign-out. |
Clearing site storage removes your saved choice, so you will be asked again. Blocking storage may prevent sign-in or saving preferences. Analytics remains off if the website cannot save your acceptance. Google documents its cookie settings here.
Member accounts and contributions
If you join, we store your display name, email address, password hash, session and rate-limit records, saved article references, drafts, submitted articles, questions, topic requests and editorial replies. Member emails are self-declared and are not automatically verified. Membership does not grant staff access.
Your reading list and unsubmitted drafts are private to your member account in the application. Authorised reviewers can see submitted articles, the associated display name and email, questions and requests so they can review or respond. Site administrators can manage member access, and people with hosting or database access can access stored records. If a contribution is published, its content and your display name become public. Feedback and replies appear in your notebook; automatic email notifications are not sent.
You can remove saved articles and delete editable, unaccepted drafts in your notebook. For account or other data deletion and corrections, use our Contact page. Member account and contribution records remain stored until removed or managed by the administrator; backup copies follow the hosting backup lifecycle. Publication copies are managed separately by the editorial team.
Account feature analytics
To understand and operate the member features, we record successful registrations, sign-ins, saved-article additions and removals, draft creation and updates, review submissions and withdrawals, draft deletions, topic requests and questions. We also record editorial review decisions and saved replies. Each activity record contains an internal member identifier, action type, related item identifier and timestamp, without copying passwords, draft or message text, IP addresses, device details or browsing history into the activity log.
Admin and Sub-admin can see aggregate counts, daily trends, feature adoption and most-saved articles. This reporting uses first-party account data and does not send member activity to Google Analytics. Passive reading is not recorded in this account activity log. Activity records older than 180 days are removed when reports are opened or members sign in; hosting backups may retain older copies according to their backup lifecycle. The underlying account records and content have the separate retention described above. For questions or requests concerning this processing, contact the journal.
Editorial accounts and messages
For editorial team members, the application stores names, email addresses, roles, password hashes, session records and records of editorial actions. Sign-in attempt records help limit repeated login attempts. Published author names and article contributions are visible to readers.
If you email us, your email address, message and attachments are handled through our email service so we can respond and assess your request. The Contact page opens your email app; it does not submit a message through a website form. Please send only the information needed for your enquiry.
Providers, retention and your requests
Hosting, analytics, font delivery and email involve service providers that may process information outside your country. Their own privacy notices describe their handling of information. See Hostinger’s privacy policy and the Google notices linked above.
Browser storage periods are listed above. Server logs, analytics records and email messages have separate retention settings; those periods are not determined by cookie expiry. Editorial account and activity records remain stored until managed or removed by the site administrator. We do not promise a fixed deletion period here for provider-managed records.
You can ask us about access, correction or deletion of information associated with you through the Contact page. We may need enough information to verify the request. Available rights and any retention obligations depend on applicable law and the circumstances. We may be unable to identify a particular analytics visit from an email address alone.
Other websites and changes
Articles link to external sources with their own privacy practices. This notice applies to our website. We will update this page when our use of information changes and show the revision date above.
